If you saw an animal suffer, abandoned, on the brink of death, what would you do? For Shima Aris, the answer has always been simple: save them.
In 2019, Shima found an injured stray kitten by the roadside. While most people passed by, Shima couldn’t. She stopped, picked up the trembling creature, and carried it to the nearest veterinarian. That day changed her life and marked the beginning of her journey as a rescuer.

She is a single mother of two, a part-time model, a fitness trainer, a breast cancer survivor and a rescuer of abandoned and ill-treated animals. She has taken in countless sickly kittens and injured dogs who needed care.
Why did she make such a drastic choice?
Imagine the courage it takes to leave a comfortable life for an uncertain one. For Shima, it was never about comfort; it was about compassion. To date, she has rescued more than 200 dogs and cats. Each one has a story of heartbreak, neglect, abuse, or abandonment, along with a story of hope, thanks to Shima.

It’s no small feat to run such an operation. Shima has to deal with heavy veterinary bills and endless heaps of food every day. But she doesn’t consider it a burden; instead, she considers it her life purpose.
She does more than give shelter. Shima is working relentlessly to search for loving homes for these animals to live and grow in. Her greatest reward is seeing a once help-less creature adopted into a family.
This remarkable woman shows us the power of kindness. While it is true that not everyone can make a dedicated effort like Shima, her story does show us how even small contributions—maybe feeding a stray or reporting an injured animal—can add up.
