A boy named Anwar lived in a small village in Malaysia. He grew up with big dreams, and his parents always taught him to stay honest and care for others. Anwar dreamt of a Malaysia where people stood united, no matter their background or race. His political career began with Malaysia’s Islamic youth movement. As a young politician, his charisma and dream of a united Malaysia captured the hearts of many, but it also made him a target for betrayal and envy. But life soon tested him in ways no one could foresee.

In 1988, accusations of corruption and other charges, widely believed to be politically motivated, led him to lose everything— his position, his freedom, and even his dignity. He was imprisoned, ridiculed and harassed in prison.
Can you guess who this person is by now? He is none other than the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia “Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim”.

Even when imprisoned, he never lost hope. In his solitary cell, he held tightly to the belief that justice would prevail. The humiliation and the pain only drove him to continue his hope for a country united in fairness and equality.
Many thought his suffering was over when he was finally freed from prison. However, he was betrayed again and sent back to prison. But he clung to that hope of justice and after more than 20 years of pain and struggle, he became Malaysia’s 10th Prime Minister. This was a victory born of tears, patience, and unyielding hope. People across Malaysia celebrated this victory. He stood tall before the nation and thanked everyone who had supported him.
His story teaches us that no matter how hard life gets we need to be patient and resilient. When the world seems unfair, it is important to have hope so that we may rise again.
