How far would you go to save someone you've never met? Would you make a life-saving decision if you could save someone, even if surgery and personal danger were involved?
For Chew Hoong Ling, the answer was an unwavering yes.
She was always a firm believer in organ donation, as she pledged to donate her organs at the age of 13. In 2009, she learned about Lee An Qi, a teenage girl suffering from a liver condition who desperately needed a transplant. Chew immediately offered to be a donor without any previous knowledge of the girl. Through a complex medical operation, she gave away 60% of her liver to give An Qi a second chance at life.

Can you imagine what it means to donate your actual body parts to someone you have never met?
The medical operation became for Chew a purpose beyond its medical function. She didn't stop after the surgery. She became a dedicated organ donation advocate by collaborating with the Ministry of Health for public awareness initiatives. She published a book titled "I Don't Know You but Let Me Save You," detailing her life-saving experience to motivate others.
Through her narrative, she demonstrates how generous acts can create extraordinary effects throughout our world, big or small. So, which footprint do you intend to make in the world? Would you consider becoming an organ donor and giving someone else a second chance at life?
