Lim Zhi Wei: Turning Nature Into Poetry

From her childhood in Kota Kinabalu, where she would draw on every surface she could find, Lim Zhi Wei—widely known as Limzy—was always connected to creativity. Art was never just a hobby for her. It was instinctive, personal, and ever-present.

Her journey took a defining turn when she moved to Singapore to study at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). There, she strengthened her artistic foundations while slowly discovering the voice that would later make her internationally recognised. Working first as a children’s art teacher and later as an art gallery assistant, Limzy continued searching for a style that truly felt her own.

That breakthrough came from something deeply personal.

For her grandmother’s birthday, Limzy created a handmade bookmark using pressed rose petals to form the flowing dress of a girl within a watercolour illustration. It was a quiet gesture of love—but one that unexpectedly sparked a global phenomenon.

What became known as her signature “petal art” style captivated audiences worldwide. Through delicate combinations of fresh flowers, leaves, and watercolour, Limzy transformed nature into visual storytelling—blending fragility, elegance, and imagination into every piece.

Her work soon caught the attention of global luxury brands, including Dior, Bvlgari, and Cartier, leading to collaborations that brought her poetic aesthetic onto an international stage.

But beyond artistic success, Limzy has always valued connection.

During the pandemic, she hosted free weekly art livestreams, using creativity as a way to bring comfort, calm, and community to people navigating uncertain times. Her work became more than visual beauty—it became an emotional refuge.

Inspired by motherhood and her evolving artistic identity, she later founded Little Luna Studio, an artisan-led creative house focused on bespoke gifting and handcrafted art experiences. Through both Love Limzy and Little Luna Studio, she continues to explore new creative directions while staying rooted in the delicate beauty that first inspired her work.

Today, Limzy stands as more than a visual artist.
She is a storyteller who reminds the world that even the most fleeting things—a flower petal, a memory, a quiet moment—can become something timeless when created with heart.
