Tasmin Ng: A Mother’s Journey of Strength, Sacrifice, and Self-Discovery

Tasmin Ng spent most of her life under the care of her family, who provided her with protection, nurturing, and family warmth. Everything in Tasmin Ng's life changed during her thirty-third year. Everything that used to keep her secure vanished from her life. She discovered herself standing by herself in front of an unknown future because she had become a single mother of two children.

She experienced a devastating storm, which took her completely by surprise. She felt overwhelmed by heartbreak, self-doubt, and guilt, and it felt impossible to take any steps forward. She wondered how to raise her children without a stable family structure and whether she could fulfil their needs. But she also had an inner voice telling her to keep going and moving forward.

A Mother's Love: Finding Strength in the Struggle

Single parenthood during the first years was tough for her. Tasmin took on all the mothering duties and the financial responsibility, and she refused to let anyone else look after her children. She ensured she had a job that allowed her to be there for her kids at essential moments. She was there for every school day drop-off and weekend activity because her children were her whole world.

Looking back now, she can see that this period completely transformed her, making her stronger. The love of her children and the support of her family helped her find resilience, strength, and courage she didn't even know she had. She kept going because her family stood beside her like pillars, allowing her to move forward during the tough times.

She now understands the powerful impact that time spent in the country had on her personal development and how every hurdle and every personal sacrifice made her stronger. Her children and family were there for her, supporting her through thick and thin and helping her discover hidden strengths. They were her foundation, keeping her going when she felt like giving up. Every step she took led her toward building her future.

Building a Future, One Step at a Time

As her children grew, Tasmin also developed personally. She saw her children had matured enough to stand alone and made a courageous decision to build stability for her future. She entered financial planning competitions, establishing her career stability while providing enough flexibility to support her children.

She has endured multiple challenges, doubts, and difficult lessons throughout the past 12 years. She faced every obstacle with increased determination. Now, at age 55, she's about to embark on a new chapter, with her children graduating from university. Her daughter has a law degree, and her son is nearing completion of his actuarial science degree. This has allowed Tasmin to think about life beyond motherhood for the first time in years, which is an exciting prospect for her.

A New Beginning

She dedicated years to her children, and now that they're starting their independent lives, she's ready to begin her next chapter. She wants to build a life where she can enjoy the simple pleasures she's been missing out on.

All those nights without sleep, along with her sacrifices and moments of wanting to quit, have brought her to this point. Watching her children create their own lives brings her so much joy, knowing each difficulty was worth it to get to this point.

“I'm not perfect, but I've always tried my best. You can only do your best in these situations.”

In her experiences, Tasmin Ng shows love and resilience, and she's got a lot of quiet strength. Life shows us that we can do more than we realise during our most challenging times. Everything we give to love comes back to us in some way.
